About us
Seasoned Voices is a citizen
media program produced by and for Rockbridge area residents ages
60-plus, to serve their own information needs. Participants
produce videos to be broadcast on Cable Channel 18 and
contribute to a Web site featuring issues and topics of interest
and importance to them.
Program
director, Dr. Claudette Artwick, said, “Over-60s in Lexington,
BV, and Rockbridge are doing amazing things—they’re seasoned
citizens with a wealth of experience and interests. Our TV
program and Web site offer a place for them to tell their
stories—make their voices heard—show off their spice.”
Artwick
handles the technical aspects of the program, but also teaches
equipment operation to those who are interested. “Everyone is
welcome--from people who like to watch TV to those who want to
be on TV, from people who have never touched a computer, to
experienced Internet users,” said Artwick.
Artwick
invites community members ages 60 and up to be part of this
project and share their expertise, passion, or hobby; to voice
opinions on important issues; and tell their stories.
Participants will develop content for TV programs and the Web in
various locations throughout the community. There is no cost to
participants.
Seasoned Voices is
supported by Washington and Lee University and the Mellon
Foundation.
